So I posted this morning over at Forefront's Blog, a little bit about my story and how Forefront has changed the way my wife and I look at ministry, God, life, etc. So, question...

How has ministry changed your faith ideals & outlook about God?

Holy cow, dude. Where do I start, and how do I keep it brief?

The last 8 years have been nothing short of a crazy roller coaster... and it's definitely turned out for the better.

God has used my experience in "professional" ministry and planting a church to lead me to the point of actually getting out of the "professional" ministry in the near future... and for a really cool reason--to go extend what I'm doing here to another state and city (most guys get out of the pro ministry due to burnout and disillusionment). And I'm drop dead convinced that I'm not supposed to get paid a dime to do it--I'll be rockin' it like Paul did in Corinth: working a "secular" job while making disciples and seeing churches sprout. So... look out G-Vegas, NC in mid-'09.

Obviously, my views of what the church should look like have changed--it doesn't matter if you're a huge-Sunday-production-style church or a simple church that meets in a home/bar/coffee shop. It's not about the "model" (we're WAY too anal about models)--it's about following Jesus and His call on your life, no matter how crazy or risky that call is (and, boy, is it ever risky and downright crazy at times).

And thus, most of what I learned in my college studies about practical ministry is, well, not practical at all.

I know I give you a hard time on this blog sometimes (it's all in good fun), but I can see your progression through what you're doing on this space on the web. Good on ya, dude. Oi, oi, oi...
