Sharing some thoughts from my daily bible reading
Reading Luke, Chapter 1 this morning... it hits me, "Luke was the first Evening News Anchor!" Seriously. You read the opening and he lays it out for you. In case you missed it, check this out:
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
Luke here is truly giving us the lowdown-
- He isn't taking the accounts of Jesus and his ministry lightly, "I'm gonna get to the bottom of this and do some investigative work" seems to be his main concern with this.
- He has done the interviews, research, investigations, etc. and has written an "orderly account" for us. It's not the National Inquirer, it's real deal events that have taken place.
- He has done this so we can "know the certainty of the things you (we) have been taught."
He's the very reason we have life today.
